Mycopunk Co-op Builds: Four Roles That Cover Every Threat Tier

Four Mycopunk co-op builds designed as a set: anchor, stripper, clearer and runner, and how they cover each other.

Last Updated: 2026-10-24

A co-op build is not a solo build with friends attached. When four people bring the same archetype, the team clears trash instantly and then dies to the first armoured boss because nobody brought an answer.

These four builds are designed as a set. Each one has a hole, and another one covers it.

Why role builds beat copy-paste builds

Solo builds optimise for self-sufficiency — damage, defence, movement all in one board. Co-op builds can specialise, because the holes get covered by teammates.

That means a co-op board can afford to skip:

  • a second defensive layer (the anchor has one),
  • armour stripping (the stripper has it),
  • long-range answers (the clearer covers the mid-field).

In exchange, each build does its one job better than a generalist could.

The four roles

Role Employee Primary Job
Anchor Bruiser Street Sweeper Hold ground, shield allies, revive
Stripper Any Shocklance Remove armour, open boss phases
Clearer Any Gunship Cannon Kill trash, prevent attrition
Runner Wrangler Cycler Objectives, flanks, long revives

Anchor — Bruiser

The anchor is the reason the team can take a bad fight. Modular Construction turns the single shield into six solid cubes, which converts a defensive cooldown into a persistent wall.

Cells:

  • Modular Construction (oddity, mandatory)
  • Unconditional Protector — hands allies overshield
  • Backboost — makes the shield a movement tool
  • Liquid Cooling + Thermal Paste — cooldown reduction stacking
  • For Good Measure — second dive

What it covers: revives, holding objectives like Planetary Defense, absorbing boss arm fire. What it lacks: damage. Do not expect the anchor to kill the Amalgamation.

Stripper — Shocklance

Every boss in the game has an armour or shell layer, and stripping it is a full-time job. The Shocklance's burst per shot makes it the right tool because the windows are short.

Cells:

  • Sunder — armour shred, the whole point
  • Charge and damage cells over rate
  • One movement answer so you can reposition between windows

What it covers: Cranius plates, Amalgamation shells, armoured units at Onslaught. What it lacks: trash clear. It is nearly useless in a horde.

Clearer — Gunship Cannon

The clearer exists so the team does not lose health to attrition. Every trash wave not killed is damage the anchor has to absorb.

Cells:

  • Prism — scales with pattern size since 2.0.3
  • Large-pattern infusion (level 13+)
  • Diffraction Driver for splash
  • Ammo or reload mitigation

What it covers: adds, horde modifiers, Ouroboros rooms. What it lacks: single-target burst. Against a boss it is a sustained-damage contributor, not a phase opener.

Runner — Wrangler

The runner does the objectives nobody wants: the core carry in Prized Possession, the far ramp in Planetary Defense, the revive across the map.

Cells:

  • Eyes Up Here — damage amp plus a speed boost
  • Dust Kick + Tuck'n'Roll — slide-out leaps on a short cooldown
  • Cycler for uptime while moving

What it covers: traversal objectives, revives, splitting pressure. What it lacks: staying power. Do not leave the runner holding a point alone.

How the coverage works

Threat Hole Who covers it
Horde modifier Too many adds Clearer
Armoured boss Nothing breaks plates Stripper
Downed player in the open No cover fire Anchor
Objective across the map Team pinned Runner
Predicament chip damage Attrition Anchor + sustain cells

Two-player version

Duo is the most efficient team size for farming, so it is worth knowing how to compress four roles into two:

  • Anchor + Clearer — the safest pair, slower on objectives.
  • Stripper + Clearer — fastest boss kills, fragile in hordes.
  • Runner + Clearer — best for mission farming, weakest at bosses.

The co-op guide explains why duo out-levels a four-stack.

FAQ

Do all four players need different builds? No, but the team needs at least one armour answer and one defensive layer between them.

What is the best co-op build overall? Bruiser anchor plus Gunship clearer covers the most situations with two players.

Should the healer be the anchor? Yes if anyone is healing — the anchor is already the player closest to downed allies.

Does co-op scaling punish specialist builds? Only if the team has no generalist. A full team of specialists covers everything.

Are these builds viable solo? The clearer and runner are. The anchor and stripper need a teammate to cover their damage gap.
