Mycopunk Glider Build: Wingsuit Uptime, Star Fuel and a Third Weapon

A Glider build that keeps the wingsuit up: Star Fuel scaling, healing-to-flight conversion, Rocket Salvo as a third gun.

Last Updated: 2026-10-24

Glider is the horizontal-mobility character: hold jump, fly forward, shoot things while flying. That sounds like a worse Wrangler until you notice two things the character has that nobody else does — flight that refills from your own output, and Rocket Salvo, which is effectively a third weapon with no movement cost attached.

The build below turns both into a loop: fly, shoot, refill, fly.

The flight loop

Glider's wingsuit consumes flight time. It gets that time back in one of two ways depending on your team:

  • Co-op: flight restores from healing received. A DMLR or a Carver with Sharing Lunch (fixed in 2.0.2 — the health chunks now actually heal allies) turns any support player into your fuel pump.
  • Solo: flight restores from damage output. Every hit you land buys altitude, which means the correct solo Glider build is maximum sustained fire, not maximum defence.

This is the only character in Mycopunk whose defensive resource is generated by offence. Play it accordingly.

Star Fuel after 2.0.2

Star Fuel used to decrease fly duration when infused with a larger pattern — a trap that made the upgrade actively bad. 2.0.2 reversed it: infusing with a larger pattern now increases fly duration.

That single fix moved Star Fuel from "never take" to "core". Take it, and infuse it large. It is one of the few cells in the game where the 2.0.2 infusion rescale and the cell's own mechanic point the same direction.

Cell layout

Slot Cells Why
Star Fuel 3 Fly duration, infused large
Rocket Salvo damage cells 3–4 The third weapon
Ammo Processor 3 Uptime for your primary
Sustain cell (Repair Siphon or lifesteal) 2 Keeps the solo loop running
Reinforced Plating 1–2 Floor
Damage Epic 3 Primary engine
Fillers 4–6 Standards

A finished board is roughly 20 cells. The build wants one large infusion target (Star Fuel) and one damage cluster, and everything else is uptime.

Rocket Salvo is not a utility

Most players treat Rocket Salvo as a panic button. It locks on, damages enemies and heals allies, and — critically — it does not interrupt movement. That makes it the only ability in the game you can fire at full flight speed.

Use it as:

  • A damage opener on a group before you commit a flight line.
  • A team heal in co-op when your support is down.
  • A free reload window — fire the salvo, use the two seconds to reposition, come back with a full magazine.

Because it has no movement attached, it does not compete with the wingsuit. That is why it functions as a third weapon rather than a cooldown.

Weapons

  • The Cycler — the default solo pick. Fast fire means fast flight refills, and elemental reload variants let you pick a damage type the run's modifiers are not resisting.
  • AU-SI Jackrabbit — the co-op pick when you want mobility plus a support-friendly damage type.
  • Gunship Cannon — the altitude pick. Shells arc down onto groups from a flight line, and Prism scales with board size.
  • Avoid the heavy weapons and the Plate Launcher. Heavies want you grounded, and the Plate Launcher recall bug still affects players who join a run in progress.

Flight lines, not flight circles

The mistake new Glider players make is circling. Circling keeps you alive and contributes nothing, because your fire line sweeps across the arena instead of down a lane.

Better patterns:

  1. Straight lines over the objective. Pick a corridor and fly it end to end, firing down. You reload on the turn.
  2. Stair-step climbs. Tap jump to gain height in steps rather than holding it; each step is a shorter commitment and you keep your fire angle.
  3. Salvo-first entries. Open a room with Rocket Salvo from outside aggro range, then fly in while the group is staggered.

Co-op role

Glider is the flanker and rescuer. In a four-stack:

  • You can reach a downed player faster than anyone except a Wrangler with a lasso line.
  • Rocket Salvo's ally heal makes you a secondary support, which lets a team run one support instead of two.
  • Ask your support to top you up deliberately. A DMLR shot that lands on a Glider is worth more than the same shot on a Bruiser, because it converts directly into uptime.

Where Glider struggles

  • Indoor rooms. The wingsuit needs horizontal space. Titan City interiors and Ice Floes tunnels reduce Glider to a standard character with a worse gun.
  • Bosses with anti-air. The Amalgamation's beam phases track altitude, and the Cranius fight's arena is deliberately low-ceilinged.
  • Solo above Deadly. The damage-for-flight loop works until enemies stop dying fast enough to refill you. Above Deadly, the solo build inverts: you want a defensive engine, not an offensive one.

Leveling order

  1. Levels 1–12: any Cycler, Reinforced Plating, first sustain cell.
  2. Level 13: infuse Star Fuel large. This is the whole build's timing gate.
  3. Levels 14–18: Ammo Processor, then the Rocket Salvo damage cells.
  4. Level 19+: second sustain piece, then the damage Epic.
  5. Level 25+: fill the rim with standards, prioritising elemental affinity if your team is running a fixed damage type.

FAQ

Does Star Fuel stack with other duration cells? It is the primary fly-duration cell; other duration upgrades affect their own abilities. Do not expect a generic "flight duration" stat to appear.

Is Glider better in co-op or solo? Both are viable but for opposite reasons: co-op Glider is a support-flanker with healing-fed flight, solo Glider is a damage-loop character. They want different cells.

Can Glider use the Plate Launcher? It can, but the multiplayer recall bug makes it a poor pick in join-in-progress games. Gunship and Trident are safer.

Why does my flight keep running out at the same moment every fight? You are circling instead of flying lanes, so you are spending flight time without dealing damage. Damage is what refills you solo.
