Mycopunk Endgame Guide: What Changes After Level 30

What Mycopunk's endgame is after level 30: Ouroboros, Abomination Assault, Onslaught clears and the order to do them.

Last Updated: 2026-10-24

Mycopunk's endgame starts at level 30, and it is not a gear treadmill. Your board stops growing, so progression becomes content you can now survive rather than numbers you can add.

That is a deliberate design and it is also where a lot of players bounce, because the game stops telling them what to do.

What actually opens up

Unlock Requirement What it is
Ouroboros Level 5 minimum, but realistically post-cap Roguelike operation, upgrades wiped and rebuilt
Abomination Assault Level 15 Timed kill-count assignment
Threat 6 (Onslaught) Build quality The sustained-density tier
Threat 7 (Predicament) Build quality + team The survival tier
Amalgamation Hunt Mission unlock Weekly boss assignment
Contraband upgrades Ouroboros Stronger cells that cannot leave the mode

Note the gap: Ouroboros unlocks at level 5 but is not playable at level 5 in any meaningful sense. It strips your upgrades, which means your build does not come with you — only your skill does. That is why it belongs in the endgame conversation even though the level gate is low.

The order to do things

  1. Finish the board. Level 30 with a coherent build. Not a perfect board — a coherent one.
  2. Clear Deadly without dying. If you cannot, the build has a hole and Predicament will find it.
  3. Run Abomination Assault as a benchmark. Two builds, two scores. This tells you which one to take into harder content.
  4. Push Onslaught. Area damage and defensive layers become mandatory here.
  5. Learn Ouroboros. It is the only real progression left and it plays by different rules.
  6. Attempt Predicament with a Bruiser board or a two-player team.

Doing these out of order is the usual mistake: pushing Predicament before the board is finished, or grinding Ouroboros for upgrades that do not carry out.

Ouroboros is the real endgame

Ouroboros wipes your upgrades and hands you temporary ones to find during the run. A boss appears every four rooms, and the final boss room is room 28. Rewards include Gats, Contraband Gats, and random upgrades — with Contraband cells only usable inside the mode.

This means Ouroboros is not a farm for your main board. It is a skill check with its own economy, and the players who enjoy it are the ones who treat it as a roguelike rather than as progression. The Ouroboros guide covers routing and build priorities inside the mode.

What "finished" looks like

A completed endgame build has:

  • One damage engine infused at level 13+ with a large pattern,
  • One defensive layer (shields, cubes, or reliable healing),
  • One movement answer,
  • Rim fillers that cost 1–2 cells each rather than dead space,
  • A weapon that matches the mission, not a favourite.

If a build has all five, it clears Onslaught. Predicament adds a requirement the game never states: you need to be able to lose your defensive layer and survive anyway. That is why shields beat healing at the top tier — a shield eaten by a mistake is recoverable, a healing loop interrupted by a mistake is not.

The 2.0.x changes that matter at cap

  • Enemy intensity buttons removed (2.0.2). Threat level is now the only difficulty lever, so endgame difficulty is entirely self-selected.
  • Pattern Infusion rescaled (2.0.2). Large-pattern infusions are stronger; the endgame board is now explicitly about pattern size.
  • Gunship Prism scales with pattern size (2.0.3). The best endgame area weapon got better, which is why it dominates Onslaught.
  • Planetary Defense railgun no longer eats movement input (2.0.3). The mission is finally fair at high threat.

Should you keep playing after the cap?

If you enjoy build craft, yes — the board is expressive and the threat ladder gives you a self-set difficulty curve. If you need an external goal, the honest answer is that Mycopunk's post-cap content is thin: three boss/mode types and seven difficulty tiers.

The compromise most players land on is farming toward a specific Predicament clear, which gives the loop a target. The farming guide explains how to do that without burning out.

FAQ

Is there a level cap above 30? No. 30 is the cap and the board stops growing there.

What is the best endgame activity? Ouroboros for challenge and variety; Abomination Assault for benchmarking; short standard missions for farming.

Do Contraband upgrades carry over? No. They only work inside Ouroboros.

Can you clear Predicament solo? With a finished Bruiser board and patience. It is not a reasonable first target.
